Tic-Tac-Logic history

Conceptis Tic-Tac-Logic is a single-player puzzle based on Tic-Tac-Toe, a pencil-and-paper game many of us used to enjoy as children. According to Angela and Otto Janko of puzzle website janko.at, the concept of Tic-Tac-Logic was invented by Adolfo Zanellati, an Italian puzzle inventor and author who named his invention Tohu wa Vohu after the Biblical Hebrew phrase (תֹ֙הוּ֙ וָבֹ֔הוּ) which means "Chaotic Disorder" and found in the Book of Genesis.

Coincidentally, a similar puzzle was invented at the same time by PeterFrank, a media content company located in Belgium, who named their creation Binairo®. The first Binairo puzzles were published in BrainSnack® - PeterFrank’s online publication dedicated to language-independent puzzle and mind games. This isn’t the first time the same puzzle was invented by two different people in two different locations (see Pic-a-Pix history).

According to Wikipedia, a couple of "bineros" are also published in The Netherlands by the popular Dutch scientific magazine Eos. Other Dutch publications of this puzzle type include Binaire puzzles by Keesing, Binairo kampioen ("Binairo Champion") and Binairo pocket by puzzle book publisher Sanders. The puzzle is also published under the name Takuzu in the French publications Le Figaro and Ludojeux. Other names (and attempts at localization) include Binairo and Bineiro, Binary puzzle, Binary, Brain Snacks and Zernero.
