Marry me! Puzzle me!

Tuesday, February 1, 2005 Crisy and Derric's puzzle

My name is Crisy and I have the most wonderful fiancé, Derric. Derric and I have been together for 4 years. We met in New York City, where I was studying to get my Ph.D. in microbiology. As if I wasn't busy enough as a full-time student, every free minute I had was spent solving Conceptis puzzles, LAPs, PAPs, and FAPs. I taught Derric how to do the various puzzles, but he gets frustrated because I can finish four by the time he finishes one!

When I saw on the website that you can win a puzzle of your own portrait, I knew I had to tell our story. It was a perfect California desert night, and Derric and I were at his favorite place in the whole world, his parents' back porch. As usual, I was solving one of those many Conceptis puzzles I do, barely paying attention to Derric.

Next thing I know, he's kneeling in front of me, pulling the puzzle out of my hand, and asking me to marry him! As he put the ring on my finger, I smiled and said yes, gazed at the ring for a minute, gave him a kiss, and then calmly picked up my puzzle again! While Derric just laughed, I didn't see anything wrong with my actions. Hey, what do you expect? I was just about finished with the puzzle!

Derric is an amazing man

Once I graduated and we moved to my hometown of Rochester , NY , my puzzle addiction got even worse. I began subscribing to virtually every Conceptis puzzle magazine I could get my hands on, from the UK to the Netherlands.

I faithfully print out the new weekly puzzles every Sunday night with a big smile on my face. I tackle every puzzle, big or small, black and white or color, and usually it's solved in no more than an hour. I do them only in pen, and I even carry a clipboard around with me with printed Conceptis puzzles attached.

As far as the puzzles go, I don't look at the picture the puzzle makes while I'm solving it, only at the end. I pay attention to the individual squares, so that when it's finished, the picture is a surprise. Portrait puzzles are my particular favorite, since I love to try to guess the famous person they depict.

Derric is an amazing man, and as a token of how much I care about him, I thought I would submit our story. I think that maybe the only thing that could make me happier than getting married to him is a portrait puzzle of us together. Derric, I love you!
