A Creative Twist: From Puzzle to QuiltWednesday, November 20, 2024Long-time puzzle enthusiast Mary Lou Bowen from the USA recently shared a heartwarming story, revealing how her love for Pic-a-Pix puzzles and quilting came together to create something truly special. "I have enjoyed doing your puzzles for decades," she says. One of her favorites, Pic-a-Pix 00290103657, titled "Squirrel", sparked a brilliant new idea. As a passionate quilter, Mary Lou saw the puzzle's design as the perfect template for her next project - a quilt for her brother Bob, who lives in New York City and has made friends with squirrels in Central Park. 1,225 Individual Pieces"As soon as I finished this puzzle, I knew I needed to use the design to make a quilt!" she recalls. Carefully converting each puzzle block into a 3" fabric square, she pieced together a stunning 93" by 93" quilt. The project involved sewing 1,225(!) individual pieces, meticulously organized with letter values assigned to each 5x5 grid, ensuring everything stayed in order. Instead of selling the quilt, Mary Lou plans to gift it to her brother, making it a truly heartfelt and personal creation. It's always wonderful to see how puzzles spark creativity, and in this case - beautifully brought together both art and family.
